Early Look at the Women's Air Jordan 11 Velvet "Midnight Navy"

A full preview of the smooth new Jordan 11 colorway for women.

What comes around goes around in sneakers. This holiday season, Jordan Brand will be releasing not one, but two Air Jordan 11s in colorways based on popular designs from the 2000s and 2010s, respectively: the “Cherry” and “Midnight Navy.” The Jordan 11 “Cherry” is a one-to-one remaster of the original white-and-red Jordan 11 Low of the same nickname that debuted in 2001. The latter, the “Midnight Navy,” takes on an appearance similar to 2016’s grade-school-exclusive Jordan 11 Heiress “Night Maroon” vibe, but with several modifications.

Because the “Midnight Navy” isn’t exactly a carbon copy of the “Night Maroon,” we thought it would be a good idea to quickly run through the shoe’s design details. Which, in all honesty, is really just an excuse to show off some cool photos by our photography team.

Officially named the Women’s Air Jordan 11 Velvet “Midnight Navy,” the blue-based colorway is reminiscent of the Air Jordan 11 GS Heiress “Night Maroon” in that it features a synthetic nubuck upper paired with a velvet mudguard, in this case designed in navy blue. The shoe also dons a Metallic Silver Jumpman on its collar, which is similar to the “Night Maroon’s” Metallic Gold Jumpman branding.

It’s worth noting that the Jordan 11 Velvet “Midnight Navy” is also reminiscent of another Jordan 11: Derek Jeter’s incredibly rare, New York Yankees-themed colorway that was released exclusively for “The Captain's” retirement ceremony at Yankee Stadium in 2017. Like the “Midnight Navy,” Jeter’s Jordan 11 features a navy design, but with a monochromatic navy, all-suede construction. The two styles aren’t exactly the same, but this new release is about as close as most of us may ever get to owning a pair of the coveted Jeter 11s.
